Preparing For Your Session

What To Wear

Colors are great, don’t be afraid to layer or add textures to your clothing choices. Multiple clothing changes and creativity are encouraged to make this photo session showcase your personality. Pinterest is a great place to get ideas.

For Families I recommend a similar color palette, such as black shirts and jeans. Remember these are suggestions, I would rather see you wearing clothes that you like and reflect your personalities.

If your session is with your pet or horse, you will want to pick out clothing that will complement their coat colors. One of my favorite outfits for the ladies and their horse is a formal dress or their formal show clothes which makes for an amazing photograph with your horse.

Preparing Your Horse and Property for Equine Sessions

I recommend that you bathe and clip your horse, prepping him as you would for a horse show. Consider using a product such as show sheen to add a nice sheen to your horse’s coat. Make sure that any tack you plan on using is clean. I recommend a bridle or a newer, clean halter with a nice lead rope. Remember to have a bottle of fly spray handy for the bugs!

Please bring a friend or two to your session to help get your horse’s ears up. This will make the session much easier. If you are planning a photo session at your property, have a look around and remove any unsightly items and equipment in the areas we may be using. If you are hauling to a location, consider getting there a little early so your horse can settle a little bit.
